Victor Burgin. Components of a practice

On the occasion of two Italian exhibitions dedicated to Victor Burgin, Skira is publishing an original volume that brings together the artist's works and writings. This book is completely different from previous publications on Victor Burgin's work, which are generally monographs of visual works with texts by other writers or collections of his theoretical writings. In fact, although Burgin is known not only as an artist but also as a theorist, no book has ever been published in which he turns his critical attention to his own artistic production. In recent years, Burgin has given public readings of his visual work in relation to various themes in contemporary art, such as those held at the Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Harvard University and the Centre Georges Pompidou. The book brings together some of these unpublished lectures, combined with excerpts from interviews and a comprehensive representation of the artist's photographic and video work.
