Highlights of Iraqi Modern and Contemporary Art

The Ibrahimi Collection is a living, growing body of works that chart the Iraqi modern art movement from its inception in the 1920s to the present day. It paints a vivid picture of continuous creativity and growth, despite the fact that most of the artists are now living in the diaspora all over the world. It also demonstrates that the communication between Iraqi artists across the generations continues apace, albeit on a personal level, through exhibitions held in Amman, Beirut, and the Arab Gulf capitals. Founded by Iraqi medical doctor and businessman Hasanain Al-Ibrahimy, the collection aims to contribute to the preservation of the rich heritage of Iraqi modern and contemporary art and raise awareness of its creativity, without any preference for specific artists or critics.
