Unique specimens, chassis no. 1, or prototypes strictly from Italian brands, on which the greatest designers and coachbuilders of the past experimented with futuristic solutions: choices that foreshadowed fashion trends and stylistic canons in the years to come.
This book presents 20 Italian cars built as a single specimen or in extremely limited production, belonging to the Lopresto collection, the most important in Italy and among the most prestigious worldwide: true mechanical works of art that have won over one hundred and eighty international awards, including forty Best in Show.
From the Isotta Fraschini Tipo 1902 (1901) to the Lancia Alfa 12hp Miller (1908), from the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Sport Touring (1939) to the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Bertone (1955), from the Lancia Flaminia Speciale Pininfarina (1963) to the Autobianchi
A112 Giovani Pininfarina (1973); one could certainly say that the Lopresto Collection
represents a snapshot of automotive history, design, Italy, and its creativity.
Considered one of the most important vintage car collectors in the world, Corrado Lopresto oversees the restoration and historical research of the valuable specimens in his collection and is a true authority on the matter. Revered and admired at Pebble Beach as well as at Amelia Island, Mulhouse, or Goodwood, he is the only one who, since 1929, has won four Golden Cups at the Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance.
