'900 Italiano. Un secolo di arte

This volume documents some fundamental moments of 20th century Italian artistic culture. An ideal journey through a succession of surprising poetic and linguistic riches. It starts with the strong propulsive thrust towards the future that animated the fertile utopias of the 20th century: from futurism to the mythical surreality of de Chirico and Savinio, to the various modes of the ‘return to order’, to the declinations of realism, from Morandi to Carrà, to the different experiences of the Roman School, to the monumentalism of Severini and Sironi, up to Pirandello and Guttuso. The second part of the century opened with the triad of the giants of our informal art: Capogrossi, Burri and Fontana, who gave rise to important events and personalities, from Forma to the “scuola di piazza del Popolo”, to arte povera and the transavantgarde. A very rich panorama that rightfully places us among the protagonists of the international context.
